Have you ever cut out, posted, or pinned pictures of fitness models to inspire and motivate yourself to work out and lose weight?
I would challenge you to do this instead: Throw away your fitness magazines.
Delete the pins. Unfollow the accounts that you leave you feeling defeated and inadequate.
Day 3 Challenge: Quit Comparing
The real challenge is not so much about the articles you’re reading; the underlying issue is comparison.
Are you really ever going to look like someone with completely different genetics, who has been airbrushed and professionally edited?
Are you really going to benefit from constantly feeling like you need to do more to weigh less?
Media and marketing focus on making us feel dissatisfied with what we have so that we’ll pursue whatever they’re selling.
But is it a worthwhile pursuit?
Our journey involves being, “transformed by the renewing of our minds” (Romans 12:2). This involves both taking off the old and putting on the new. So far, we’ve talked about focusing on the truth, being positive, and being grateful.
Another essential piece to renewing the way we think about our body is getting rid of the old. Strip away the thoughts, images, and distractions that take our focus off the good – and remember to actively pursue what is good, excellent, and praiseworthy!
