Hi, I’m Stephanie Hodges.

One question I'm always asking is: What does it mean to be truly WELL?

Wellness isn't about following a quick-fix diet plan, killer exercise program, or the latest self-help program; it's a holistic lifelong journey encompassing body, soul, and spirit.

I spent many years working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, but was always frustrated I couldn’t help my clients more… it was clear that exercise was only one piece of the puzzle!

From my years working in the fitness industry, full-time ministry, and all the side projects and research I've invested in along the way, I can tell you there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach when it comes to wellness.

You'll only figure out what works for you through practice, learning, and experience.

I have a Master's in Nutrition and Exercise Science and obtained a number of certifications over the years. The most recent is Health & Wellness Coach training from Duke.

My passion is to

  • challenge and support individuals on their unique path to optimal health

  • help people feel confident in who they are

  • move beyond physical habits to find holistic health for body, soul, and spirit

Interested in coaching?

Currently, all my work is done online via Zoom.

I have a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science and over two decades of experience with fitness, wellness, and ministry. I am also a Duke-trained Heath and Well-being coach. Duke has a solid, evidence-backed approach to wellness, and I use their 8-part Wheel of Health and Personal Health inventory to initially guide client assessment and coaching.

Programs vs. Habits

There’s a good chance that you’ve attempted a health, exercise, or weight loss program before…and it didn’t work! Trying to force yourself to follow somebody else’s plan is rarely effective.

I would refer to this as a “top-down” approach, trying to conform your habits and lifestyle to a program.

Instead, I like to use a build from the “bottom-up” approach, which helps you form a strong and lasting foundation.

In coaching, we work together to assess your current health, uncover triggers, and form healthy habits that work for your unique lifestyle and personality.

Key differences between our health and wellness coaching vs. other forms of personal training and weight loss programs

  • Focusing on a whole-person holistic health approach

  • Partnering together with a client-driven agenda

  • Win or Learn philosophy (losing and giving up aren’t part of the vocabulary)

  • Microchange for long-term results

Holistic Health

We take a whole-person approach to health. The wheel of health highlights 8 key areas for well-being. We might touch on all of these areas or just a few depending on your needs and goals.

Win or Learn

A common downfall is an all-or-nothing approach. Aka, being “on a healthy kick” or “off the wagon.” Our process is one of discovery: we find winning strategies and when something doesn’t work the way we anticipated, we learn from it and move on.

Partnership

You are the expert on your personal health and lifestyle, not your coach. So instead of dictating a plan, I will partner with and guide you to uncover your best path forward and learn what works for your unique personality and circumstances.

Long-term Habits

You’ll see results within the first few weeks and months, and we’ll celebrate. But the real goal is long-term change. We’re creating a lifestyle, of healthy habits that stick. We may start slow and small, but the end results will be transformational and lasting.
