Every year, people seem to get more jaded about setting New Year’s resolutions, assuming nobody is really going to be successful in keeping them. I, however, am an eternal optimist and love using this time of year to reflect, set goals, and get off to a fresh start. My health is always a top priority and I can’t wait to launch 2017 with 15 Days to a Healthier You.
As you might expect, my goals are frequently related to fitness, healthy eating, and exercise. I am passionate about helping others succeed in these areas, so I’m always asking: How can people not only get healthy, but STAY healthy?
Why do people struggle to keep their New Year’s fitness and health resolutions?
There are many possible answers to this question, but I think they can be summarized under the following:
- Adopting a temporary plan instead of a permanent lifestyle change: Our changes will only last as long as our behaviors are different. If we go back to old habits, we’ll get old results.
- Failure to plan: We underestimate the time and effort involved in making significant lifestyle changes. Planning, preparation, and schedule adjustments are essential to success. Most people will have to give some things up to make time for new habits.
- Focusing on just one habit while ignoring overall lifestyle: Our health is dependent on a large variety of factors. All are interrelated and affect each other.
Changing habits, mindsets, and overall lifestyle are all key, and this is where 15 Days to a Healthier You can be a tremendous benefit.
